About heighart

This needs highlighting at the beginning:

I am by no means showcasing anything to demonstrate that any of these are good, original or worthy of, well, anything. They are purely to share and if anyone finds any use or value from these, fantastic. I said this later on in the document but it helps being cleaer up here.

heighart is a passion project and is published due to my love of art, technology and sharing.

I also want to dedicate my art to anyone struggling with mental health issues, especially young males. I was a young male and it was absolutely brutal. Don't shut down, don't get "masculine", do the opposite, talk about things and find the love in your life. I really want to promote that.

I want to dedicate my message not to avoiding or escaping your problems (i.e. through drugs and/or alcohol), but expressing them, however it may be.

While I am not in any way shape or form fit to give advice or direction, I will still try to help anyone if they resonate (or NOT) with me or my artwork. I will build on this in the future here if this grows, but for the moment, if you need support or help, please reach out to me. I will reply to you and do all that I can to help you.

100% of the proceeds of printed or donated or purchased artwork on this site goes back into youth development. I'll never waver on my goal of this site to help youth.

A bit of history

I learned Photoshop way back in 1999 but mainly to support my main work, which was web development.

Back in those days, you would be a "web master" and that sort of required you to be a "jack of all trades" - at least I tried to be.

I always struggled with original designs though, and sort of gave up on the idea of ever coming up with breakout new design ideas.

Fast-forward to around 2020 and my business started booming and with that came a lot of stress.

An outlet, which I know is not a net benefit to my situation, was to resume smoking weed.

I used to smoke a lot as a teenager, but after a bad experience I stopped completely for decades.

However, as I aged and the stress got to me, I thought let's give it a go, so I did. It actually opened up a whole new world for me, artistically.

The only thing I wanted to do, COULD do, was listen to music and play around with Photoshop.

So, here we are...

These images are the result of about 6+ years and over 5,000 versions of various works. I've picked "the best, in my opinion" to showcase here, but if you're interested, reach out and I'll be more than happy to share more iterations if you're so inclined.

I am by no means showcasing these to demonstrate that any of these are good, original or worthy of, well, anything. They are purely to share and if anyone finds any use or value from these, fantastic.

My style

I really love messy art. I am not schooled formally (or informally) in art, but I know what I like and I do really like abstract.

I appreciate all art, everything, but for me, my passion is abstract.

You may notice a lot of my works are lines, messy and obscure. Some do have intentional meaning, most don't. However, I've learnt over the years that meaning should be derived and is most enjoyable, coming from the observer.

If I had to label my style, it would be "meaningful abstraction". As mentioned, not because I made it with a meaningful purpose, but because meaning can be derived from it. And while it is true that my emotions at the time definitely help influence the tone and direction.. I did create most artworks as an outlet though, so I guess there is meaning to some of them. Take that as you wish.

If I did have a goal at all, it would be the hope that someone can enjoy any meaning from my abstractions. [UPDATED - ADD TO CONTACT FORM] I do have a goal. I would like to reach anyone who is lonely, struggles with their identity, needs help finding themselves or simply want something to do. Mental health means a lot to me and if I can help anyone with that, you made my day, month, year. You get the message.

Maybe, if I had a goal. That was retarded. I'm sorry. It was. But I guess in this exercise from 12 months ago my second most important achivement I would hope to accomplish would be if the single thing I want to be remembered for is: to think big but do less, look deeper, be irrepreducible, learn more, understand everything and one self, singularly, supremely.

Being High

I do not encourage, promote or want anyone to use any form of drug. I do use drugs to create these artoworks, but it is a process I'm going through. I would love it if we lived in an environment where we can safely explore all "drugs", but at the moment, all I can say is, it is what is it. If you do happen to be under the influence of any drug, these works might be better appreciated.

Ownership

heighart is a purely digial work. Just like traditional painted, sculpted, photographed etc. work. I believe you should be able to truly OWN an artwork and PROVE you own it.

I also believe it should be sharable, just like a photo of the Mona Lisa is not only allowed, but encouraged. None of my works come within 15 million football fields of a brush-stroke of the Mona Lisa, however, my sentiment is still the same.

Almost all of my work is for sale, so feel free to reach out if you are passionate about anything.

Prints

I have loved some of my work so much that I wanted to print them and display them. For that reason, I thought if I wanted to do that, why not let others have that option too.

It is surpisingly frustrating and difficult to get a really good quality print of digial work so, as I went through that process, I thought I would offer it to others.

If you see a work that you would like a print of, simply click the (...) under the image you like and select "Request a Print" and fill out the form and I'll do the rest!
